Announcement: Ending Support for Android 4.3 (and lower) Devices
Here at Zerion, we constantly look for ways to provide the most secure best-performing experience for our users. As a part of that goal, we must stop supporting Android devices running 4.3 (and lower).
WHY WE ARE STOPPING SUPPORT FOR ANDROID 4.3 (AND LOWER)
- SECURITY: Android 4.3 was created over 5 years ago. In that time, many security improvements have been implemented in throughout the later versions of the Android OS.
- FEATURE AND PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENTS: Stopping support of Android 4.3 will allow us to implement new functionality not possible with earlier versions of Android.
HOW THIS WILL AFFECT YOUR USERS
If you have users running Android OS 4.3, they will able to use the iForm for Android app as it currently is. However, they will not be able to take any new iForm application updates, including iForm ES, following the 8.3 release. It is recommended that users upgrade to the latest version of Android that his or her device allows.
WHEN THIS CHANGE WILL TAKE PLACE
This change will be effective with the release of iForm for Android 8.3 which is expected to be completed toward the end of October 2018. Please follow our Android Release Notes to stay up to date.
HOW TO VERIFY THE ANDROID OS VERSION ON YOUR DEVICE
This will vary based on the Android device, but will be something like this:
- Click the Device Settings icon on the device.
- Select the About icon. This will tell you which version of Android you are running.
HOW TO UPGRADE TO LATEST ANDROID OS
Again this will vary based on the device, but will be similar to the following:
- Click the Device Settings icon on the device.
- Select the About icon.
- Choose System Updates. This will show you which OS is capable with the device and allow you to update.
