Simpler Photo Input to take pictures faster
CompletedWe use iForm on iPhones a lot to perform site visits.
Our check list form makes heavy use of the photograph input (subform that allows more than one photograph) since we use it to document defects, etc. When taking more than 100 pictures for a single site visit, the currect photograph input consumes a lot of time. In fact the work flow is as follows:
1. Tap on the Photograph-Subform
2. Tap on photograph button/area
3. Chose option 'Take picture with camera'
4. Take picture
5. Note title and/or description (optional)
6. Tap on "complete"
This work flow is a bit tedious and I actually cought myself rather not taking pictures or taking pictures with the iPhone camera instead and then copy them into my report manually when I am back in the office.
My suggestion would be to provide a second kind photograph input. Let's call it 'snapshot input' for now, which could give me the following work flow
1. Tap on the Photograph-Subform (Then imediatly show camera function!)
2. Take picture
3. Note title and/or description (optional)
4. Tap on "complete" or tap on "Complete and take another snapshot" (which would than instantly give you camera function again)
This would literally cut the workflow in half.

Hi all, this has been added to the iOS client as part of the 8.5 release which should be available on the App Store by the end of November.

Hi Sascha, you bring up a good point, and we have gotten around to solving part of this already. Check out the subform batch mode released in 8.0 as it will help with starting the new subform record automatically for you once you press done.

Launching a widget on new subform creation is most certainly the next step :)
