What are Public Links?
Public Links make Webforms accessible to data collectors without requiring them to have a username and/or password. This is achieved by creating a link to a particular form that would allow collectors with the link to access Webforms through their computer and collect records. We see this as a great way to improve existing workflows or expand your use cases.
PLEASE NOTE: This is currently only available through Webforms and not the iOS or Android app.
What is a Custom URL?
A Custom URL allows you to pre-populate the Public Link with data so that when a user opens the links, certain elements already contain certain data. Below, we'll show you how to create a Custom URL via Public Links.
How do I create a Public Link with pre-filled data?
To create Public Link with pre-filled data, please follow the instructions below.
STEP 1. Under the Mega Menu, choose Form Builder.
STEP 2. Search for the form for which you'll be creating the Public Link and click the Public Link icon.
STEP 3. On the pop-up, click the Public Link tab.
STEP 4. Click Generate Link.
PLEASE NOTE: You can also set a password if you choose to. The user will be prompted to enter the password when opening the Public Link.
STEP 5. Click Copy Link.
STEP 6. In this example, we'll be populating a Pick List element and a Text element. To do so, we will need the data column name of each of the elements (pick_list and text_element) as well as the key values of the Option List associated with the Pick List element (yes and no).
STEP 7. Next, add each pair of element names and values to the end of the URL. Use an equal sign (=) between the element name and value, then use an ampersand (&) between pairs.
Let's take the previous Public Link URL and add the two elements. First, add the ampersand (&) after the URL, then add the element name, an equal sign, and the value (&pick_list=yes):
Next, add another ampersand (&) and then the next element/value pair ($text_element=This article is very helpful.):

If you wish to pre-populate form elements with data, add another & to the end of the URL and then the data column name of the element and = the data you want to be populated.
