What is the issue?
Dropbox issues an access token to allow the two systems to talk to one another. Previously, Dropbox’s access tokens were long-lived with an indefinite duration. A recent change by Dropbox to issue short-lived access tokens causes the integration to unlink. Their change was not retroactive which is why customers who have not linked/re-linked recently still possess a long-lived access token and are unaffected.
What is happening?
The change only affects customers using the integration, specifically those who have recently linked a Dropbox account in the past few weeks. If you are a longtime user of the integration and have not linked/re-linked recently then you are most likely unaffected.
We are rapidly developing and deploying a fix, but felt it was critical to communicate to our users because the disruption may not be self-evident under normal daily use. Below is an FAQ to provide more context to the issue, but please reach out if you believe you have been impacted and we’ll work together to reconcile the situation.
How do I know if I am affected?
When you go to Company Info -> Edit Media Configuration, you will see an error next to your dropbox integration:
If I am affected, will I lose any data?
No, you will not lose any data. The iForm platform uses our default cloud storage as a failover in the case of an integration disruption. Any media collected the disruption has been stored on our default cloud storage. Our team will work with you to consolidate the media once the integration is operational. Please reach out to us at support@zerionsoftware.com if you have any questions regarding the process.
How do I fix the issue?
If you are not affected by this issue, you do not need to do anything on your end.
If you are a new customer or have relinked your dropbox integration recently, then you will need go to Company Info -> Edit Media Configuration and relink your dropbox account.
Once you have relinked, the data uploads should go to your dropbox as usual. Image/Media Download on the mobile side should also go through fine, but the iForm App may not be able to fetch custom icons (Form icons, Image Label elements, or Option List icons) after 4 hours from relinking. We are currently working on a solution for this issue and it will be released in version 10.0 for both iOS and Android. Follow our iOS and Android Release Notes to remain up-to-date.
