What is the ESRI Element?
The ESRI element creates a relationship between iFormBuilder and ArcGIS Online data. This is critical for making updates to existing assets instead of simply adding new entries. Any form which contains the ESRI element allows the user to select a location from a map and store the latitude and longitude along with the ESRI metadata.
The ESRI element contains the following attributes:
- Object ID (ArcGIS Only)
- Global ID (ArcGIS Only)
- Latitude
- Longitude
PLEASE NOTE: This element does not work on subforms.
How do I add an ESRI Element to my form?
To add an ESRI Element, please follow the instructions below.
STEP 1. From inside the form builder, click the Text button from the left-hand menu. You'll see it populate the device view.
STEP 2. On the right-hand side, you'll see the element properties. Enter the name of your element.
PLEASE NOTE: If you check the Based on Label option, it will create a data column based on the Label on the element.
STEP 3. Save your form.
STEP 4. Test this out on your device. Click the form that contains your ESRI Element.
STEP 5. A map with crosshairs will appear prompting the user to choose a location. Move the crosshairs to the desired location and tap the checkmark.
The latitude and longitude of the selected point will be stored in the ESRI element, and users may continue working through the form.
PLEASE NOTE: When viewing data captured with the ESRI element, data is stored in this format:
{"longitude":"##.####","latitude":"##.####"}

Hey Joe,
Last I heard, the ESRI Connector tool was still in Beta. Is this still true?
It seems like the ESRI element has come a long way over the years, and we get a lot of use out of it. Would be really cool to see it polished up a bit more and taken out of Beta, if it's not already!
The functionality of the element is still a little clunky, and I'd like to drop a shameless plug for a feature request I submitted a few years back to model the ESRI Element after the Location Element, which is a bit easier to use and flows a little more seamlessly with a form:

Thanks, as always for the awesome features you guys continue to push out!
