What is the 3rd Party element?
The 3rd Party element creates a link to other software installed on the device from within iForm. This functionality exists on both iOS and Android but is configured differently for each operating system.
PLEASE NOTE: The iOS URL Scheme is defined by the app developer. To obtain the Android Intent Package Name, search Google.
How do I add a 3rd Party element to my form?
To add a 3rd Party element to your form, please follow the instructions below.
PLEASE NOTE: In this example, we'll be calling Google Maps via the iOS URL Scheme.
STEP 1. With your form loaded in the Form Builder, click the 3rd Party button from the left-hand menu.
STEP 2. On the right-hand side, you'll see the element properties. Enter the name of your element.
PLEASE NOTE: If you check the Based on Label option, it will create a data column based on the Label on the element.
STEP 3. Under the Element Properties tab, put the following in the iOS URL Scheme:
To launch Google Maps from your Android device put the following in the Android Intent Package Name:
com.google.android.apps.maps
- Key/Value (optional): This field applies to both iOS and Android and allows additional information to be passed in the request.
STEP 4. Test out the functionality on your device. When selecting the 3rd Party element on your device, Google Maps will be launched.
