What is a device license?
You may be used to hearing user license which refers to a created username under the Users tab. Device license refers to a username logged into the device app which then gets logged into our License table under the Company Tab in the License section.
This transaction log tracks the date-time and device information for when a user logs into the app. If a user logs out of the app, this information will be removed from the license table.
PLEASE NOTE: Only three devices can log into a username at a time. If a fourth tries to log in, they will run into an error "Maximum Number of Licenses Exceeded". To resolve this, you will need to find the user/device and log out manually or you can delete the license from the table.
Why am I seeing more than 3 usernames in the table?
You may see that sometimes there are more than 3 device licenses logged in the table. If you see this, it is because a user has not logged out of the device but it has been inactive for the last 30 days or they deleted the app without logging out. Please make sure to have users log out of the app if they are going to delete the app and re-install.
If a device license has not been active in the last 30 days, it will not be considered an active license.
How do I view the device license information?
From inside the Admin Portal, hover over the Company tab and select License. If you have the updated server, hover over the Mega Menu and click License under the Company section.
You will then be taken to a table view with a list of usernames and the device information they logged in with.
Non-ZIM Server:
ZIM-Server:
Device ID: This is an identifier created by us to uniquely allocate a license to a device of choice. Before 2013-2014 timeframe, these ID's were from the device itself but there were changes made by the OS that stopped us from using those ID's and thereafter, our mobile app generates their own unique device ID's.
On iOS, this ID generated is 40 characters long and on Android, it is 163 characters long.
App. Name: This is the app name being used. For example, if you are using the iForm Apps, it will say "iForm", "iForm ES", etc. If you have a white label, it will show the white label name.
App. Version: This is the app version being used.
Device Type: This is the device type being used. (Ex. "iPhone 8", "iPad Mini", "SM-T290", "Device Type Unknown")
OS Version: This is the version of your device operating system.
Last Login Date: This is the last login/sync from the username and device combo.
Status: This will show a status if a device was remotely wiped. (Ex. "Pending Remote Wipe", "Wipe Completed")
